Everyone wondered what kind of punishment would the coach and players of the North Korean football team receive after a relatively poor showing in South Africa last month.
A six hour grilling in a public inquiry apparently is much less severe than what used to happen to failed sports teams.
FIFA spokesman Nicolas Maingot said Monday that replaying the incident was “a clear mistake.”
The mistake is not allowing for video replay technology to be used during the match to determine whether questionable goals are valid or not. It’s not like a video replay will slow down the match much anyway, adding 1-2 minute to the game isn’t gonna hurt. Besides, goals are so few in football matches, running a replay will not affect length of games too much.
FIFA is a fucking joke.
