On Assertiveness

If you don’t like Cinderella because she seems so “naive” and “weak,” listen to this quote from the Walt himself in 1949:

“She believed in dreams, all right, but she also believed in doing something about them.   When Prince Charming didn’t come along, she went over to the palace and got him.”

I never thought of Cinderella that way.

Internet nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

The Internet has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Yes, folks, the medium that has brought us icanhascheezburgerFAILblogMySpace, and 4chan among other things is on the list of candidates to bring home the award that US President Barack Obama won last year.
Of course the internet has been the instrument of peace, there’s no doubt about it. Everyone’s too busy to wage war because they’re all updating their statuses on Facebook and Twitter, and are running around collecting points and badges on Foursquare.

Mickey Mouse, 47th President of the United States of America

Daring Fireball pointed to this New York Times blog talking about the recent US Supreme Court decision granting corporations First Amendment rights, that is the right to free speech, including determining political allegiances and funding.
Wasting little time, PR company Murray Hill Incorporated decided that the next logical step was for businesses to run for a seat in the US Congress and produced this brilliant campaign video.

As if it’s not enough, here’s a chronological account of what happens following that decision up to January 2029 when Mickey Mouse gets inaugurated as the 47th US President.
